Colorado does not allow permitless concealed carry. The Arapahoe County Sheriff issues concealed handgun permits to residents 21 and older who complete a qualifying training course and pass a background check; permits run five years. Open carry is generally legal but can be banned locally, and since 2021 cities and counties may adopt their own firearm rules, including limits on carry in certain places. Check local ordinances where you live and travel.
Most Colorado deer and elk rifle hunting is by limited license drawn in the spring, with over-the-counter options only for certain species and units. Deer rifle seasons generally fall in October and November by game management unit, and plains units along the Front Range, including those around Arapahoe County, have their own dates and mostly private land.
