Since July 1, 2022, Indiana has let adults 18 and older who are not prohibited carry a handgun openly or concealed without a license. The Indiana State Police still issue a free lifetime License to Carry a Handgun; you apply online, are fingerprinted by the state vendor, and local law enforcement in Vanderburgh County reviews the application. The license helps with reciprocity and some school-property rules. Courthouses, many school grounds and posted private property still restrict carry.
